Your Vehicle Check

Helping you check a vehicle's history & understanding the vehicle check report

Vehicle check codes

Your purchased vehicle check (voucher) codes are available immediately after purchase in your Cars GT account and can be redeemed for an instant vehicle check on any UK registered vehicle.

How to check a vehicle

Vehicle check (voucher) codes follow the following format ‘CGTX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX’ and are valid for a year from the date of purchase. You can redeem any of your unused check codes at anytime for an instant vehicle check in a few quick and easy steps.

  • 1. Enter a registration at https://carsgt.co/vehicle-check and ‘Check’.

    2. Scroll down the complimentary report and select ‘Check this vehicle’.

    3. In the revealed menu – If you’re logged in, select either ‘Silver’ or ‘Gold’ to use one of your available vehicle check codes. The number in the red circle shows how many vehicle check codes of the given type you have available.

If you’re not logged in or if you have a valid check code you would like to use instead, click ‘Have a voucher code?’ to expand section and enter in your check code and email address if required.

Report status

We check multiple data points with each vehicle check to reveal any past or current information held which may affect the value of a vehicle, or pose a financial risk to the buyer.
Our vehicle report has been carefully designed to prominently highlight and display these issues, bringing them to your attention before you buy a used vehicle.
We use 3 different status alerts for our full vehicle reports ‘Fail’, ‘Review’ and ‘Pass’.
Fail
Vehicle’s with a ‘Fail’ status have one or more major issues that have been flagged which could pose a financial risk to you the buyer. An example of these is
  • Outstanding finance (where finance is still owed on the vehicle)
  • Stolen/Theft record
  • Exported record
  • Scrapped record
  • Insurance write-off
  • Altered mileage (where mileage has been reduced to potentially increase the value of a used vehicle)
A vehicle with outstanding finance means the lender (Mercedes-Benz Financial Services UK LTD) owns the vehicle until the finance has been repaid and settled in full, including any final “Option to Purchase” fee. If you buy this vehicle while it has outstanding finance, you risk losing it and your money should the seller fail to settle this finance. Before purchasing this vehicle from the current keeper, ensure the lender above has ‘No Financial Interest’ in this vehicle.

Review
A report status is set to ‘Review’ where there are either some minor issues that have been flagged or the ‘Extended ID’ check has not yet been completed. An example of a minor issue would be an MOT due to expire in a few days. Minor issues don’t necessarily pose a financial risk but could highlight any unexpected additional cost the buyer might have after purchasing the vehicle such as MOT, tyre replacement or servicing costs etc.

Pass
The ‘Pass’ status is only achievable by completing our ‘Extended ID‘ check which can only be done by the voucher code owner/purchaser (you).
The ‘Extended ID’ check is a manual process where you verify that the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the vehicle you’re inspecting and the log book details match what is held on file for the particular vehicle. You can verify these details on your check page (You’ll need to be logged in to complete this)
A pass status means the vehicle checked has no ‘At Risk’ issues which have been flagged. Our vehicle check does not verify the structural and mechanical condition of a vehicle.
